Don't over do it!!

Exercise is great but please don't over do it! Doing back to back sessions or day in day out HIIT (high intensity interval training) is a recipe for disaster. Make sure you schedule some recovery and rest days into your program. The good work is always done in the recovery phase not the working out phase. If you are not letting your muscles and body rest you are not allowing it to repair, rebuild and transform. If you are going to miss a couple of days training don't try and make up for it by doing 2-3 sessions in one day, it doesn't work like that and will most definitely be counter productive. At JMJE we schedule our timetable for balance and we definitely don't encourage back to back classes, sometimes less is more!

Signs you are over-training:

  • Washed-out feeling, tired, drained, lack of energy.

  • Constant muscle and body aches.

  • Pain in muscles and joints.

  • Sudden drop in performance.

  • Insomnia.

  • Headaches.

  • Decreased immunity (increased number of colds, and sore throats)

  • Decrease in training capacity/intensity.

  • Moodiness and irritability

  • Depression

  • Loss of enthusiasm for the sport

  • Decreased appetite

  • Increased incidence of injuries.
